Southwark St George Martyr index
The Winchester Hall, Great Suffolk street in the 1866 license transfer; This is shown on the 1876 Ordnance Survey map as "Winchester Music Hall" and in the 1882 Post Office Directory is listed separately (with different proprietors) at 201 Southwark Bridge Road as the "Winchester" and at 31 & 32 Great Suffolk Street as the "Winchester Hall", so the music hall and pub may have been separately listed for a while. It is named as the Grapes in 1869 and earlier, where the address is given as 31 & 32 Great Suffolk Street. It's at 31 Great Suffolk Street in 1851 and earlier, and just Suffolk Street (or Dirty Lane, an earlier name for this street) in the earliest Sun Fire Office insurance records. The address is given as 154 Great Suffolk Street in 1944, following street renumbering. *
