Before proper numbering of Old Kent Road, the Castle was at Youls Place, Old Kent Road.
Castle 205 Old Kent Road, there was a pub on the site on a map dated 1745, local legend has it that it was named from Oliver Cromwell's fort nearby, its name was changed to the Gin Palace circa 1985. **
