Prince Albert, 5 Upper St Martins lane, Soho WC2

Soho index

This address is the Grapes in 1839 and earlier; this would make sense as Prince Albert marries Queen Victoria on the 10th February 1840;

Demolished by 1955, the site is now occupied by Thorn (now Orion) House, 1957-1959, by Basil Spence. It is on the west side near to the junctions with Litchfield street and West street. **

I was doing some searching for some of my ancestors on The Old Bailey site and I found that my great great grandfather James Henry Carthew had the Prince Albert pub in the years 1868-1872.
By 1881 he had moved to The Old Parr's Head at Hammersmith. *
