At 41 Rotherhithe Street in 1871 and earlier. A document in the National Archives from 1722 refers to a lodging house "at the sign of the Three Sheds and Torbay near Elephant Stairs" which must be the same site, as the address of the Torbay is given as "corner of Elephant Stairs" in the Sun Fire Office insurance records & also in the 1842 Robsons directory. *
