My Great Grandfather, William Rolfe was a landlord of The Acorn until about 1932. My father stayed with his grandfather at the pub as a child. He thinks the owners were Whitbread. Unfortunately, the owners improvements to the pub and subsequent increase in rent bankrupted my Great Grandfather and he moved on and back to his former profession as a barber. ***
