Anchor & Hope, Horseferry Branch Road, Ratcliffe E14

Ratcliffe pub history index

The Anchor and Hope, Regent road in 1856, 1863 and 1869 license transfers. In the 1906 picture, the pub is closed, but the name of the last landlord, Joseph Jeffs Meadows is above the door. The pub was demolished and the road (now Branch Rd) widened during the building of the Rotherhithe Tunnel (opened 1908).
The Docklands Light Railway platforms of Limehouse Station now sit on the railway bridge. ***
