My great grandfather on my late mother's side, George Edward Bastable,
appears to be listed as a beer retailer/publican in the 1901 census at The
Lord Panmure, 107, Plumstead Road, Woolwich. His marriage certificate of
1/12/1892, to Amy King, shows him then as a Licensed Victuallers Manager,
and their address as 28, Mulgrave Place, in that area.
By the 1911 census, the whole family including 4 children, had moved on and
they lived at 71, Pomeroy Street, New Cross, where he is listed as a
newsagent and confectioner. The Lord Panmure pub appears to be listed in a
London directory of 1944, but by 1971 has disappeared. *
