The Foresters Arms is at 35 Walmer Road/Terrace, Plumstead, I found William Henry Banister here in the 1918 Electoral Roll which would have been made up in 1917. The 1915 London City Directory shows Banister at 133 Plumstead Road and Albert Prebble as beer retailer at 35 Walmer Road. So William took over the Foresters sometime between those dates. *
I think the street was renamed Walmer Terrace before the 1939-45 war - that is its name in the 1939 Register but #35 is redacted. I believe it was on the corner with Earl Street. Now gone - the name probably acknowledged in Earl Rise today. I found the Foresters on a list of Charles Beasley Ltd pubs so I guess William Banister was a tenant. *
He is then listed as a beer retailer at 35 Walmer Road in the 1920 London City Directory at the same time as running a tobacconists at 133 Plumstead Road.
Generally, I have found that his abode was 133 Plumstead Road so you might find him there in Post Office Directories. By the 1922 Electoral Roll, he is still at 133 Plumstead Road but his abode is the Red Lion, Shooters Hill. So I guess he took over the Red Lion in 1921. *
