I am related to Benjamin Bilsborough, and his wife Sophia (nee Mason) who ran this pub. He was listed in 1840 in Robsons Directory at this address. They were married in 1804 in St Botolph. *
Interestingly (to me), he was a stone mason by trade. In 1822 he was run over by a hackney carriage on Ludgate Hill and he lost one finger which was amputated and his hand, in general, was mangled (three ribs also broken). Hence career change to publican. He died in 1844 and his wife continued to run this establishment until her death in 1853, aged 71.
