I was a Police Constable at Harrow Road Police Station from 1965 until 1976, and the Prince Albert was the first place we all went to after the shift ended. It is no exaggeration to say that I spent a huge amount of my off duty time in the Prince Albert.
The licensee was Alec Bell, a Scotsman. The Prince Albert was known locally as the "Dead End", I never discovered why it was called that. It was a nice little pub. It was used by coppers from Harrow Road nick, the back of which can be seen to the right of the picture.
It was also used by staff from the local postman's office, and by Doctors, nurses and whoever from what was then Paddington General Hospital, now gone like the pub and the police station. Local people used the pub as well. Everyone got on ok with everyone else. I would give a lot to go back to those days, with the nick, hospital and pub all back again. Good memories ***
