The Bridge House Hotel was also known as "The Weybridge public house" back
in 1861. The hotel is mentioned in court documents in 1862, as the venue
where a crime was planned - a robbery that ended in attempted murder charges
and subsequent transportation to Australia for two of the perpetrators.
Bartender Philip Kirganwin gave evidence that the defendants had been in the
week before the crime and that he had served them with "six pennyworth of
rum and water". - Old Bailey **

My family had this pub at the end of WW2. My grandfather Charles David Gould
(originally Davich Renovitch) died here in 1948. Grandmother Ethel Maud
Gould then took over the licence until about 1955. *
