My fathers last pub was The Railway Bell, 284 Mitcham Road Tooting S.W.17, we moved there from The Green Man in 1960 and lived there until 1965. The Railway Bell closed last autumn (in 2013), and is now a Polish supermarket. It was a huge pub, we had 12 to 14 live in bar staff as well as part time casual staff, a lunchtime only wear a tie restaurant that served 80 to 100 'proper all home cooked three course meals' daily from Monday to Friday along with bar snacks. There was an off licence attached that was a separate business within the pub. *
