Peacock, 145 - 147 Aylward Street, Mile End E1

Mile End Pubs history

Formerly at 145 Charles Street, Stepney E; probably renamed Aylward Street between 1938 & 1944. There were formerly five pubs in Charles Street, but this is the only one which survives - and it is currently under threat of demolition (2008).
In 1944, the only beer retailer is a D L Walters at 21 Aylward Street E1, which is not the Peacock, as the Peacock is named as a public house by this time. ** The Peacock is still open for business in 2018.
