It appears that one side of New Road is in Whitechapel & other side in Mile End, By 1844 it was operating as a brewhouse. The Duke of Gloucester, Gloucester Terrace in 1866 license transfer. Rebuilt in its present form in 1887, it was closed by 1921 when it was developing photographs, and now functions as a clothes shop (2007). **
