Listed as Lewisham, under the older form of the address, 145 Rushy Green; the address is at 167 Rushey Green by 1908. It was rebuilt in its present form in 1897. Although the full name was Black Horse & Harrow, it often seems to have been referred to simply as Black Horse. In recent years it has been renamed the Goose. **

February 1859, Black Horse, Rushey green, Charles Peckham to George Trew/../../Kentish Mercury
In 1861 George Alexander Trew, is "Victualler" here, and by 1867, George was
at The Rutland Tavern, Perry Hill Sydenham. I believe his son, George Jasper
Trew, may have taken over from him but can't find any record of this. I
believe this pub has been renamed and may even now be residential. ***
