South London Chronicle 07 January 1888 :
At the Tankerville Arms, Caroline street, Lambeth, Mr and Mrs Poulter gave their annual Christmas party, on Monday last, to upwards of 50 young children, who were entertained by Messrs W Poulter, E Poulter and Miss F Poulter.
During the evening Masters Hyde, W Poulter and Kerr, Misses R Poulter, M Poulter, A Waltham and Kerr, gave recitations, and Miss Heppell sang sweetly "Jack and I", and Miss F Poulter was very good with "Red Riding Hood". The children were highly delighted with the feast and the large Christmas tree, the handsome prizes being distributed by Mrs G Poulter, and just before breaking up did not forget to appreciate the kindness of the worthy host and hostess by wishing them a Happy New Year.
I found my grandmother Florence Jane Poulter living at the Tankard Arms in 1888. I found out through her school admission record on Ancestry.
I do know my great grandfather George Poulter was in the pub trade. *
