The pub my father talked about being near the Old Vic must have been the Old
Victoria at 131 Waterloo Road. This is given as my grandmother Alice’s
address in May 1913 when she married William and the witnesses were Mark
Salter Loveridge (from Musbury – a cousin of John Palmer Salter) and B and
EHM Pavey – which ties up with names in your records. ***
It then appears that William and Alice were working at the
White Horse & Cross Keys
until William joined up in 1915, and Alice remained there during the war
(letters were sent by William to that address). In 1919 they were living in
a house in Battersea, but they returned to work at the White Horse and Cross
Keys some time in 1920 and remained there until 1926. ***
