The original Oval Tavern was built in 1855, it was replaced by this building in 1897 which in turn was replaced by the concrete and glass version in 1966. *

aka Surrey Club House in 1869 & 1882, and the Surrey Tavern, Kennington oval in 1848 and 1870; apparently this clubhouse/pub is under threat of demolition in the next expansion of the Oval Cricket Ground (2007). ***
