On 23 April 1976 that the huge rock band ACDC made their English debut at the pub ! - Their album 'Back in Black' is the second largest selling album ever, second only to Michael Jackson's Thriller. The original pub was pulled down in 1980. The current pub was opened in 1988 as part of an office block. It is still open in 2020, apparently.

According to the documentary 'Unforgettable: The Sweeney' shown on ITV 4th September 2012, the film crew and cast regularly made use of the Red Cow pub, which was opposite Euston Films at Colet Court. *
Dennis Waterman recalled that on his first day he spent 14 hours in the pub before speaking his first line. Director David Wickes said that customers of the pub, from both sides of the law, made frequent comments on the shows which were then incorporated in subsequent scripts. Linda Bellingham recalled that the pub felt just like an episode of the show. *
Ray Winstone first acting job was as an extra in the Sweeney in a scene set in the pub. It is now a Fullers pub called Latymers. *
