My 3xg grandfather was Friend Fauchon – he was the proprietor of the Unicorn for
10 years from 1840 to 1850 when he transferred the license to William Henry
Showell – Article in The Era Lic. Vict. MEMS 20.1.1850 with license
transfer.
He was a member of the Lic. Vict. Asylum and lived there in his old age and his
obituary mentioned having the Unicorn “for upwards of 11 years”; He also had the
Old Centurion from at least 1826-1834. His daughter was born there in 1826, and
her birth certificate states father as Victualler - Centurion.
His daughter married my 2 x ggrandfather and they moved to South Australia, as
did his younger son and another unmarried daughter. ***
