I have an interest in the history of the "Loyal Briton Pub", as my Brooks/es
descendants were involved with it, for a greater part of the 19th Century. I am
a descendant of Charles Brooks/es listed as the Pot Boy, in the 1851 Census. *

I am the granddaughter of Richard Hewitt, son of Walter and Pricilla Hewitt. My
mother was born at 62 Thames street in 1918 although Richard was electrical
engineer. In the 1920's they all went to live in Biddenden and run The
Chequers. Richard took over
when his father died but they left around 1940 as he went back into shipping for
the war effort. ***
