In 1887 he marries Louisa Helen Bradshaw when he lists himself as a barman living at 25 Sayer street, and his father is listed as Charles Wood, publican. He was also licensed victualler of the Norman’s Arms pub in Greenwich in 1891. **

In 22nd February 1888, Freedom of the City Admission Papers are conferred on Charles wood, son of Charles wood late of Drews Head, Church street Deptford Licensed Victualler deceased occupying premises at 4 Globe court, Fish street Hill, Licensed Victualler - the Globe; By 1901 he has moved on to the Black Swan, 54 Bermondsey street
