The address is given as 1 Blackheath Hill in 1867 and earlier, prior to street renumbering. It's also listed as the George in Limekilns (an older name for the area) in the 1805 directory. It should not be confused with the pub of the same name which was on Conduit Vale (modern Hyde Vale), on the north side of Blackheath Hill. * This pub was rebuilt in its present form in 1890. **
