The Redan, 1 New Grove road, south side in the 1861 census. I now have proof that New Grove road later becomes Estcourt road, which latterly is renumbered at some stage. * Using elimination of the other beer houses in New Grove road in 1871 and in Estcourt road in 1881, we have an address of 19 New Grove road in 1871.
Mr Jeanes was licensee at the Redan public house in Estcourt road from 1933 to 1964 when the building was demolished under a redevelopment scheme.

In the 1940's, The landlord to the best of my knowledge was Tom George Jeanes, my grandfather. He ran the pub alongside his wife Violet and their four children (Mr Jeanes was licensee at the Redan public house in Estcourt road from 1933 to 1964). **
My uncle Deryck told me stories of working behind the pub when he was a young man as a bar tender.
My father Trevor told me once that he was actually born there just before Christmas of 1945.
THomas George Jeanes was confirmed as being at the Battle of Jutland, on the HMS Centurion.

A Spirit License for 'The Cottage'.
Licensees of four Fulham beerhouses applied at Kensington Brewster Sessions for full licenses permitting the sale of spirits as well as beer and wine. Only one applicant - Mrs Maude Clara White, of the Cottage, Colehill Lane - was successful.
It was stated that in the period January 6 to 31, 153 Cottage customers signed a record as having asked for spirits. Surrender value of the existing license was £20,400, and the full licence value was £23,750 leaving a net amount payable of £3,350.
Beerhouse keepers who were refused a full licence were Leonard and William Williams, of the Californian, St Thomas's way; Toms George Jeanes, of the adjacent house, the Redan, Estcourt road; and Alfred Wild and A J E Wild of the Live and Let Live, North End road.
