I have come across an old News Paper clipping advising of the sale of the Estates of a Mr John Gorham of 14 Kings Road, London on his death probably over a century ago, including his many properties is listed the Five Bells Public House in Chancery Lane. * The articles are in November 1801. * Freehold and Leasehold Estates, the property of the late John Gorman Esq. The Leaseholds, held for long terms, at small ground rents, and occupied by respectable tenants, consistibg of the late Mr Gorhams residence at 14 Kings road, with spacious yards and workshops. Also five brick dwelling houses, numbers 1 to 5 Little James street, with coach houses and stables in Johns Mews; Numbers 5 and 16 Great James street, 15 Kings road, 32 Theobalds road, 26 Bedford row, with stables, coach house and workshops in the Mews behind. Number 8 Bedford row with coach house and stables. Number 38 East street, etc.

Freeholds include 100 to 104 Chancery lanr, the Five Bells public house, and the Registers Office for the County of Middlesex.
