Public Ledger and Daily Advertiser 05 June 1820 :
An inquest was held on Saturday at the Coach and Horses, Jews row, Chelsea, on the body of Jane Sudenwood. The deceased was a widow about 60, and was much given to drinking spiritous liquors. About 10 o'clock on Thursday night she was seen to go home in a state of intoxication; shortly after, she was seen to go out and return again with a bottle of gin. Soon after she was found on her hands and knees, quite dead. Verdict - Died from suffocation.

Saint James's Chronicle 26 October 1822 :
Queen square - Richard Stagg, a Chelsea pensioner at 1s 4d a day, late of the 4th Veterans, and formerly of the 14th Foot, was brought up for re-examination on a charge of uttering counterfeit coin.
The prisoner went to the Coach and Horses public house, in Jews row, Chelsea, on Tuesday evening, and had 5 pots of beer, for each of which he paid 1 shilling, receiving the difference in change.
He afterwards called for a sixth pot, for which he offered another shilling, the blackness on one side of which caused Mrs David, the landlady, to examine it minutely, and she discovered it to be counterfeit. She seized the prisoner by the collar, and dragging him into the bar, accused him of having paid her in base money for the other five pots, and he immediately gave her good silver for four of the bad shillings, but refused to give her any more until she should return the fifth, which she had given in change for a half crown to another man, who brought it back the next day.
While they were disputing that point, a young man who had been sent for a constable, returned with Shields and Scott, two of the Bow street patrol, who took the prisoner into custody, and searching him, found on his person a sovereign and three shillings in silver of good money, and three bad half crowns, and two bad shillings, wrapped up separately in paper.
A person who attended from the Mint, proved that the shillings and half crowns produced to be counterfeit. The prisoner said he took them in change from a man in Petticoat lane, of whom he had bought some second-hand clothes.
He was committed for trial.
