Researching one of my grandmothers (Rose Payne, born in the City Arms), I've found a few relatives associated with London pubs. ***
Ernest Thomas Payne was publican at the Elder Tree at 119 Chrisp Street (From the 1911 Census submission), with his sister, Alice, as Manageress.
In the 1901 Census he was the publican at the Tidal Basin Tavern, where his mother Ellen and sister Alice were recorded.
In 1891, Ellen Payne is shown as a Beer Retailer at the Eastern Star, on Brunswick Street (with her daughter Alice).
In 1881, Ellen is shown as the Beer Retailer at the Adam & Eve, on Tucker Street (with her son George).
In 1891, George Payne is the publican at the City Arms, on Victoria Dock Road (where his daughter Rose was born in 1888).
