Bexley history
This pub was probably established by 1738 and is mentioned in Charles Dickens’ 1859 novel ‘A Tale of Two Cities’.
In 1822 it was renamed the Fox & Hounds, although the name Crook Log seems also
still to have been in use and the name formerly reverted by around 1898. Earlier
addresses, e.g. in 1891 were at Main Road, Bexley Heath ** At 39 Crook Log in
the 1901 census.
