Duke Of Wellington, 29 Three Colts Lane, Bethnal Green E2

Bethnal Green pub history index

Existed from at least 1813. Up until at least the 1851 census, this pub was called the Lord Wellington. The Lord Wellington, 4 Three Colts Lane in the 1861 census. The Pub closed before 1983 and was demolished in 2010. **
This is named as the Lord Wellington in the 1869 Directory and earlier. It was originally sited a little to the east, on the other side of where the railway bridge crosses Three Colts Lane, prior to rebuilding in the late-19th century. It is marked at this location on the 1876 Ordnance Survey map, and it is likely that the pub was renamed upon rebuilding, as it's listed under the new name by the 1882 Post Office Directory *.
