Anchor & Hope, 77 Mape Street, Bethnal Green E2

Bethnal Green pub history index

Existed from at least 1851. This pub is now demolished. At 35 Mape Street in 1861 census and earlier. **

On searching the Macaires on family tree, I have found that James Isaac Macaire was in the above pub on the 1851 census; he died in 1860. In the 1861 census, his wife Frances continued with the pub. James Probate was not settled until 1866 - at that point it showed that he had been L.V. of the Anchor & Hope and left his Probate to James his son, who was the L.V. of the Falcon  *
