The address was 40 Bermondsey New Road in 1899 and earlier, at 82 Bermondsey New Road in 1882 and earlier, and at 20 Bermondsey New Road in 1851 and earlier, all prior to street renumbering (and eventually renaming, as 40 Tower Bridge Road). It is named as the Sportsman in the 1851 and 1871 census returns, but it's named as the George by 1891. *
