Rose and Crown, Artillery street, Bermondsey SE1

Bermondsey pub history index

Existed from at least 1789. This street no longer exists -- it ran roughly east-west from Crucifix Lane to Fair Street, although the section to the east of Church Street (now Roper Lane), was called Charles Street when this pub existed. It was presumably on the south side of the street, as the boundary between Southwark and Bermondsey ran along Artillery Street, and it appears in the Bermondsey victuallers recognizances of 1825. *
