The England and Wales Probate Calendar 1858-1995 shows my great-grandfather, Luke White, Beer Retailer, and his widow, Catherine Florence White, resident at the Volunteer at the time of his death (in the Fever Hospital, Old Kent Road) on 18 January 1890. (Luke seems to have married Catherine bigamously.) He is aged 28 years when he is buried at Brompton cemetery on the 24th January. *
