I lived in this pub between September 1959 until January 1964. There was a playground at that time behind the pub, terrace houses across the road being knocked down, and a girls school on the opposite corner. This was the early sixties and lots of things were changing. It was an Ind Coope owned pub, run by my parents Reg and Joyce Shank at the time. ***
John and Gladys Hills (my parents) were the landlords of the pub in 1965. It had a ballroom on the 2nd floor with two crystal chandeliers and a wooden floor. We left the pub in 1973/74. *
