Closed on 1st January 2000 and now a Farm House
The photo shows Edward Turton (sitting) and Frank Cropley (standing) and their wives outside the Wheatsheaf Inn, circa 1918; Frank Cropley was the landlord of the inn before my gggrandfather. *
The pub in the background is in fact the The Anchor Inn Stratford St Mary Suffolk +++
Match box cover from the late 1970's or so. Jackie & Des were William Desmond & Jackie Hart. On the back of the box is written "Match box cover, W.S., smarter than F. Cropley's time."**
