Sun & Anchor, Steeple - circa 1908

The boy standing on the post behind the cart is Frank Godfrey Cook (my wife's grandfather), born 08 Jun 1897. Christopher Whipps, the publican was his uncle. His mother was Amender WHIPPS, Christopher's oldest sister. She was born in 1872 married Charles John COOK, and emigrated to Australia in 1911.
I have no idea who the other people in the picture are - if I had to guess they would be Frank's parents, Charles and Amender Cook, and his sisters Amy (born 1899), and Ruby (born 1903). If this was the case, I would estimate Ruby to be about 5, dating the picture about 1908. Frank had a brother Charles, who was a year older as well as a brother Harold (born 1905) - I would have expected them to be in the picture.
I then would assume the lady leaning on the doorway to be Christopher Whipps wife Ellen Maria WHIPPS (nee HERRINGTON). However, the picture could also be of Christopher Whipp's family - he had 4 children that I know of Zellah (or Zillah ) Dorothy WHIPPS, born 1889; Ada (or Adah) Amender WHIPPS born 1891; Azel WHIPPS born 1893; and Blanch Edith WHIPPS born 1899. Again the children don't seem to line up with those in the picture. - Mark
