Red Lion, 140 Balaam Street, Plaistow E13

Plaistow index

This pub was later known as the Phantom and Firkin, and then the Village at Plaistow, but is now closed and demolished. It is named as the Old Hop Pole in the 1861 census, but is the Red Lion by the 1871 census. There's also a Sun Fire Office insurance record of a property "near the Red Lion, Plaistow, Essex" dated 1807, so it may date back to then. *
