Wheatsheaf, Hornchurch & the Bacon Family

The Wheatsheaf in Brentwood Road, Hornchurch (Romford) was in the hands of the Bacon family for at least forty years from about 1881 to early 1920's. Richard Bacon was the original landlord, followed by his wife Caroline (nee Moss, nee Murphy). Considerable extra information can be found from Matthews site, and also some more detail on the Bacon / Murphy lineage.

The Bacon family. Richard and Caroline Bacon with Richard's daughter Miriam, Caroline's sons William and Harry Moss, and their 3 surviving daughters Ethel, Florence and Laura. We think that Flo is the girl on the left, and Miriam is the girl at the back.
