My grandfather was Teddy Baldock, the former World Bantamweight Champion
1927. Two years ago I published his life story "Teddy Baldock-The Pride of
Poplar". During the research I read that he'd once ran the Earl of Derby,
Forest Gate but handed it back to the Brewery when trade fell off during
WW2. I wanted to try and find out the exact dates that he was in the pub
(that is if I have the correct Earl of Derby).
Out of interest his parents ran the
Ship Pub in
Poplar High Street for almost 20 years from about 1931. ***
