Cobbold and Co had this building erected in 1937/38 and it opened in April 1938 as the most modern hotel in the area. The development included two large bars panelled in oak and the saloon bar had a lift installed to the kitchen, on the first floor there was accommodation for the licensee as well as five Luxurious guest rooms. Outside, a large area provided parking for 150-200 Cars. There was also a York stone paved garden area and five large heated lock up garages. Originally Built at a cost of £ 10,000 The pub was renamed the Devon in the new century, in 2012 part of the premises was converted into a convenience store.
