See the Three Jolly Wheelers, Woodford bridge for details of people, landlords etc.
The Three Wheelers is now a Vintage Inn. The modern postal address lists it as Woodford Green which is complete nonsense. It has always been, and always will be, on the border of Chigwell, and Woodford bridge. Any local would refer to it as being the latter due to its proximity to St Pauls, Woodford bridge. The census until 1911 are all listed as in Chigwell, although if you note, the birth places often change through time to Woodford bridge rather than Chigwell; it's a local privilege.
The other point of note, looking at the 1851 Essex directory; Daniel Knowles is listed at the Three Jolly Wheelers, under Chigwell. But he is also listed at the Three Jolly Wheelers, Woodford bridge and under Woodford in the same directory. The 1855 directory has two separate listings, with different names, which is slightly confusing. The 1937 directory lists the Three Jolly Wheelers, High road - telephone : Buckhurst 0591; noted as Woodford Bridge, but listed under Chigwell.
