My grandfather's brother ran the pub from 1914 as detailed in your list of occupants, Harry Hunt. *

My mother and her brother, both still alive, remember family weekends spent there. Uncle Harry had the pub but lived in Hornchurch during the week and my grandfather John Hunt ran the pub weekdays. *

The pub had a licence from 6am to serve Docker's coming on/off shift who used the footbridge to come off the docks. *

My uncle and aunt, Bob and Maureen Conway, managed the pub in the late 1950's….I think at least as early as 1954….maybe earlier…..but their management of the pub ended in 1959 after my uncle died. ***
I remember visiting quite often from Ilford…..and my parents did the vacation coverage for them.
