At sometime between 1913 and 1939, my Mother had an address of 31 Boyd Road,
Boyd Arms, Tidal Basin; i.e. 31 Boyd Road, Canning Town, which was known locally
as Boyd Arms. Her name of 'Elizabeth Reed' does not appear in any other
documentation; and the Primary Source is a Prayer/Hymn book with a Handwritten
name & address
"Betty Shepherd 31 Boyd Road, Boyd Arms, Tidal Basin"
She was Born in 1913 and Married in 1939 and as far as I am aware, lived with
her parents during that time - So I am unable to say when exactly they were at
31 Boyd Road. ***
Her Father 'William Henry Reed' was a Dock worker working for Harrisons on the
Coal Docks, and was injured out, and was subsequently a publican and possibly a
Fishmonger, since my mother said he was always giving fish to my Grandmother to
take to expectant mothers in the area and that and that 'nearly everyone bought
on credit'. He lived at 31 Boyd Road at some point (which is confirmed by my brother from
a chat with my uncle many years ago) and ended up moving to Purfleet around the
late 1930's - early 1940's ***
Lots of my Grandfather's brothers and relations were publicans in the area
(although I can't place the 'Henry Reed' which appears on your listings),
these included Alf Reed the boxer (William Henry Reed's brother). ***
