Brentwood Gazette. 15 February 1991
Friday, February 8th: The Railway Tavern, Kings Road, Brentwood - activities to raise money for the Forces in the Gulf.
Regulars at the Railway Tavern, in Kings Road, Brentwood lived it up the whole weekend in aid of Gulf support.
A sponsored snooker contest as well as a yard of ale contest - followed by a 24 hours pool and darts marathon started on Saturday at midday. A race night got off the grounds on Sunday and raffles were held all weekend.
Some activities had to be cancelled because of the weather, including a band called Regal. A beer race also had to go which would have meant teams carrying a barrel beer for 100 yards in the snow. Landlords son, Mark Robinson said "It was supposed to be on Saturday and most of the local pubs were taking part."
Proceeds from the weekend are expected to reach £1,000.
