The Barking Cross Tavern was originally the Still. It closed in 1882, and again in 1885; but opened again by 1887 with Peter Reynolds the new owner. It finally closed in 1912, and re-opened as a Mission Hall for the Baptists. The name is listed as The Still until 1882, as The Cross Tavern in 1890, as The Old Cross Tavern in 1891, as The Barking Cross in 1895/1899, as The Cross Tree Tavern in 1901, and again as The Barking Cross from 1902. *
